Instructions for use of PBTC.Na4 solid

PBTC.Na₄ is a high-performance organic phosphonate scale and corrosion inhibitor, widely used in cooling water systems, boiler water treatment, and reverse osmosis (RO) systems.

1. Product Overview

Chemical Formula: C<sub>7</sub>H<sub>7</sub>O<sub>9</sub>PNa<sub>4</sub>

Appearance: White crystalline powder

Solubility: Highly soluble in water (>50% at 20°C)

pH (1% solution): ~9.0–11.0

Active Content: ≥88% (typical industrial grade)

4. Preparation & Handling

Dissolution Method

Pre-dissolve PBTC.Na₄ in clean water (recommended 10–20% solution).

Stirring: Use mechanical agitation for faster dissolution.

Temperature: Works best at 20–50°C (avoid boiling).

Safety Precautions

Personal Protection:

Wear gloves (nitrile), safety goggles, and dust mask when handling powder.

Avoid inhalation of dust (may cause mild respiratory irritation).

Storage:

Keep in sealed, dry containers (HDPE drums or bags).

Store at <30°C, away from moisture and oxidizing agents.

5. Compatibility & Stability

Other phosphonates (HEDP, ATMP)

Polymeric dispersants (PAA, HPMA)

Most oxidizing biocides (e.g., chlorine, bromine)

✖ Avoid Mixing With:

Strong acids (may precipitate)

High concentrations of polyvalent cations (Ca²⁺, Fe³⁺) before dilution

6. Performance Optimization

pH Range: Effective at pH 7–10 (best performance in alkaline conditions).

Temperature Stability: Stable up to 100°C (higher temps may require additional inhibitors).

Synergistic Blends:

For scale control: Combine with PAA (polyacrylic acid).

For corrosion control: Blend with zinc salts or molybdate.

Biodegradability: Low (persistent in water; requires proper treatment before discharge).
